'Drawn Into The Edge Effect' is the debut album by German based composer and sound artist, Andrea Cichecki.
After many years of city life, Andrea discovered deep inspiration for her music in the nature surrounding her new home. Residing at the boundary where countryside meets woodland, she lives right at the 'edge effect', a unique zone where different ecosystems converge, creating a diverse and vibrant natural beauty.
Andrea is established as a composer for her ability to create deeply emotional music and immersive soundscapes. Her work, which spans across ambient, experimental and contemporary genres, is characterised by its emotional depth, rich textures and intricate layers.
This album is an emotional exploration of Andrea's past, touching on themes of loss and letting go, while also conveying hope and the enduring cycle of renewal found in nature and the cosmos. Andrea translates her emotions into music using a unique electricity, with her synthesizers as her main instrument. Each track tells a personal story, complemented by field recordings from the Ore Mountains and Saxon Switzerland, creating an intimate and immersive listening experience.
There's a lot to discover for anyone interested in the most modern take on classic synth history, blending analog with digital, displaying her multiple talents as a highly versatile and experienced synth sound designer.
Andrea has a background in sound engineering, culminating with a degree from the Abbey Road Institute, she brings a wealth of experience to her compositions. She composes for films and art projects, where her talent for creating evocative music is met by her collaborative spirit, working closely with filmmakers and art directors to bring their visions to life.
In her countryside studio, Andrea draws inspiration from the nature around her, which she incorporates into her music. She has built her own studio which facilitates her hybrid approach to making music. She's found something beautiful, which we all get to enjoy.
Nick Taylor has done his usual fantastic job on the artwork for this release and to her credit, Andrea was so open to a collaborative approach with Nick, and given that Nick's artwork was completed before the album was, she then used Nick's art as a feedback loop into the creation of the album's musical narrative. It warms our hearts that the label gets to work with these incredibly creative people. It's such a privilege.
